6TH SEPTEMBER DEMONSTRATION: Lexi Watt

All who saw Lexie’s wonderful entries in our exhibition will make sure they are at this demonstration to learn how they are produced.     Lexie has won a myriad of awards: 2004 commended James Kiwi Watercolour art prize, 2007 solo exhibition, 2009 illustrated book Jacobs first blood test, 2009 wrote and illustrated children s book ‘Chookies’, 2009 commissioned 21 paintings and embossed copper for corporate dining room Tumblinlg Waters Stanwell Tops, 2010 commended James Kiwi, 2011 1st Drawing Thirroul Seaside Art Prize, 2013 finalist Waverley Art Prize, 2014 1st Overall Kiama Art Prize, 2014 illustrated childrens book ‘Sophie’s Prize’, 2015 2nd overall Kiama Art Prize, 2015 illustrated childrens book ‘A Show for Bonnie’, 2015 illustrated childrens book ‘The Cat with no Tail’  2016 2nd overall Thirroul Art Prize and Viewers Choice’ 2016 2nd watercolour Kiama Art Prize.  Prior to all this Lexie taught Porcelain Art for about 22yrs.         The demonstration is at the Coach House, 3A Farmer Street, Kiama at 1.00pm. PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

  Committee on Opening Night Ray Teasdale, Helen Pain, Robyn McMillan, Doreen Teasdale, Heather Netherclift, Karen Wright, Judy White The Annual Exhibition has been a great success. Congratulations to all award winners. Kiama Art Society members were recipients of 19 of the allocated 38 awards. Opening night was attended by 177 artists and visitors who enjoyed an evening of catching up and discussion. About 900 people visited the exhibition and 25 paintings were sold. Of the 144 artists who entered, 71 were members of the Art Society . We have received many favourable comments, by phone and email, praising the high standard of works entered in the exhibition. The committee would like to thank all members who generously gave their time to assist during set-up and the week of the exhibition. The dates for next year’s exhibition are 26th August to 3rd September, 2017. The Annual Exhibition is an integral event on the Kiama calendar and takes place because of the support given by the Kiama Leagues Club, Kiama Council and 25 other Sponsors who were acknowledged in the previous newsletter.
