Dates for your Diary:

Demonstrations: 6th June – Renee Kamaretsos Having lived in France and Greece for several years and travelled extensively throughout Europe, Renee acquires inspiration from her ever changing surroundings to create beautiful contemporary art. Now back home in Australia, Renee has formalised her studies by completing a four year Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts. Renee has a great energy and enthusiasm for painting in a variety of different genres and mediums. The freedom of watercolour, the unlimited expanse in landscape and the curves of the human figure are all fundamental elements in the creation of her desirable artworks. Looking to the natural beauty of her surrounding worlds, Renee captures the mood, harmony and rich palette of colours that effortlessly present themselves. Renee will demonstrate how to paint these texture lillies. This process involves the use of acrylic paint applied as you would a water colour background then texture paste applied with a palette knife to form the flowers, with highlights added to finish. 4th July Holly Eva Gay Holly is a modern expressionist painter from Wollongong. ” I paint as if I’m seeing things for the first time. I lose myself in my imagination and escape to a place where I feel free. On goes the paint, rich in colour, twisting and turning in all directions, wiping, pressing, stamping, layering, drawing, writing words and smudging them out.”     Open House at the Coach House – 27th June: A most productive day was had by all who came to our first open day. Kerry Suttonberg’s printing group were most enthusiastic. Thank you Kerry for coming to this open day. 27th June will...

Workshop 8th-9th July -Chan Dissanayake

We will paint a variety of subjects, producing two paintings a day from start to finish; each painting will be chosen to demonstrate a certain technique or a key learning point. There will be lots of useful discussions as well as tips on how to avoid potential pitfalls. We will begin with simple subjects and move progressively to challenging techniques such as wet-into-wet method. Learn how to understand the various stages of wetness of the paper as well as paint consistency in creating these magical effects. Lots of little studies and planning will guide the student as well as build confidence in their own work. If you enjoy the challenge of producing loose and bold watercolours, then this is for you. Chan is well known for his generosity in sharing his insights and experiences in watercolour. There will be many demonstrations showing you how to create depth, incorporate figures, and connect shapes, edge control and how to exploit the medium in creating magical effects.  Each student will receive personal attention and...

MARCH UPDATE:

DEMONSTRATION: Tuesday, 7th March WORKSHOP: 29th/30th April           with    ROS PSAKIS                          Ros says…. ‘ The goal of my classes and workshops is to show students how to push THE THREE PRIMARY COLOURS to their limits.   It’s so easy.   I demonstrate how a limited palette leads to harmonious paintings and easy colour mixing. I show the importance of TONE and how to see it. To understand how portraying at least three tones in a painting will give a good feeling of sunshine. We will see how only THREE directional lines can get even the most complicated drawing onto the canvas. The LIGHTING on a subject means the difference between an ordinary painting and an extraordinary one.  See the simple rules of COMPOSITION and how to make use of them.  Learn the way to work through paintings using a simple, easy to understand method that works every time….and with every subject.  UNDERSTANDING WHAT WE SEE in the subject is the tricky part.  Getting it onto the canvas is easy….!!  And last but not least……..                       How to get that sparkle of sunlight into a painting.’       DEMONSTRATION – at the Coach House 1pm…$10 members  $15 visitors WORKSHOP – at Jamberoo Youth Hall…$150 members  $170 visitors Contact HELEN PAIN  0432 232 054    LIMITED NUMBERS   Looking ahead….
