I have just come home from a lengthy meeting where your committee has tackled many of the organisational tasks that must be completed prior to our exhibition in August. What a wonderful group of people to work with!
Our New Activity – The Wall at the Coach House
Currently the paintings on display on the wall are works by your committee, and we have received many complimentary comments about our paintings, and also about the idea. It’s a way for all of us to share what we do, and a great way to have your work seen and appreciated by other members. BUT – I must say that we haven’t as yet been inundated with members wanting to hang their works on “The Wall”. We know a new idea takes a while to get going – SO how about putting your name down. All details are on the information sheet sent out in the last newsletter, or if you can’t find that I can forward the sheets to you.
Don’t be shy – You can put your name down individually, or ask your art society friends to exhibit with you. How about it??
The Annual Exhibition:
Preparations are romping ahead for our annual exhibition, which is fast approaching. The application form will be sent very soon, but categories and sizes etc have not changed so you can start thinking about your entries, Sections are: Landscapes or Seascapes, Abstract, Figurative (including portraits) Still Life, Local Kiama Council Area and Watercolour.
Exhibition Raffle Ticket Selling
Thanks to sponsorship from the Kiama and District Business Chamber we have been offered a site at two upcoming Seaside Markets. The first is June 16th and the second will be in July.
Help needed: Our raffle paintings will be ready to display, so this is a great opportunity to sell tickets and publicise our exhibition and our Society. If anyone would like to help on the day by doing a couple of hours in our gazebo, please contact Helen or Robyn, and if you are at the Seaside Market, pop in to buy some tickets.
Huge thanks to our talented member Colin Harwood and to Melbourne artist Julie Goldspink (one of our visiting workshop tutors) for donating paintings for this raffle. We are very lucky to have such support.
