KAS NEWSLETTER: JANUARY 2020
A Word from President Helen
Welcome to our new year! What a start to the year this has been! I’m sure like me, you have been glued to the TV and Fire apps, unable to believe the extent and ferocity of these horrendous fires, that will now always mark the start of 2020. As I write, most of the fires around Australia are now “contained”, so hopefully the worst of this disaster is behind us. But that’s only in terms of the spread of fires.
There is so much continuing heartbreak and hard work ahead for those who have been impacted by the fires, whether directly or indirectly. We grieve for all those with friends or family who have died or been injured, and for those whose homes or businesses have been affected. Here, safe in Kiama, we grieve the destruction of so much of our beautiful South Coast flora and fauna. I know that some of our KAS members and their families have been directly impacted, and we send our ongoing support to them.
The impact this disaster has had on our beautiful South Coast is yet to be felt – particularly by the business sector of the coast. Let’s all do our bit by supporting our local business, and visiting the affected towns, and encouraging our friends to do the same. Let’s help our beautiful South Coast to get back to business.
Now to specific KAS matters. Your committee is hard at work planning the 2020 program. Classes will resume soon, and one of our early activities will be the –
Annual General Meeting.
This will be held at the Coach House on TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY at 1.30pm.
Please think about nominating for the committee and be part of planning the activities of KAS.
Ring Robyn on 0407 939 528 and she’ll send a nomination form to you. Nominations need to be in to Robyn by 28th January. After the meeting, please stay on for Devonshire Tea.
Right now, I hope you are having respite from fires and bad news, and can enjoy some pleasant painting time.
Looking forward to a great 2020.
Helen
