I was so pleased to have signed up for the Chan Dissanayake watercolour workshop. I had been looking forward to it since seeing his wonderful demonstration last year.
The weekend workshop was packed with great information, technique and valuable tips on the wonderful media of watercolour. Chan generously demonstrated how firstly he chooses a photo reference to work from and then considers tone above colour to be the key to a good painting. It was wonderful to see this in action as he demonstrated how to go about several paintings from start to finish and. when working on our own paintings, to have him guide each of us to achieve a good result. I have to say that we were all pretty pleased with our paintings over the two days. As for myself, I found Chan’s workshop an excellent and fun way to hone my skills and learn more about watercolour.
What a treat to have such an accomplished and well-known artist come to our art society. I would definitely recommend attending workshops at the Coach House. Not only are they fun to do but you also come away so inspired by the experience.
Chan painted a beach scene with figures and showed how to quickly put figures into a landscape.
