About Ken:    Ken Tucker is a renowned local Kiama artist, frequently awarded and sought after for commissions, exhibitions, workshops and live audience painting gigs at significant cultural and community events.

Ken has dedicated the past 35 years to creating visual art.  Over the years Ken’s painting proficiency in oils and acrylics has seen him frequently awarded and highly sought after for commissioned works for corporate and Private Collections. He is an acclaimed muralist and has also completed a large scale sculptural project within the Sutherland Shire.

Ken’s artworks are exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions in the Illawarra,
Sutherland Shire; Western NSW and on display at Two Gulls Art Studio/Gallery, Kiama Downs, NSW, that operates in partnership with his wife Lea.

Ken is a very generous member of Kiama Art Society, and we are thrilled that he is able to fit this workshop into his busy schedule.

Outline of the course:  Two days devoted to seascape painting, a different subject each day, contemporary and/or abstract.  Suitable for both beginners and more advanced artists.

MATERIALS LIST:

PHOTOS:  Ken will supply some stock photos, but please bring a selection of your own coastal/ seascape photos for your canvases.

PAINTS:  Ken uses Matisse or Atelier Acrylics. Bring your own selection and favourites from what you already have, ensuring a good range of colours.  Or match to this list, which is what Ken prefers to use.  Ken will provide some textured house paints to try.

1 x 60 x 90cms                                    1 x 60 x 50cms

Or personal choice of size as long as you have your own easel to support the size. Possibly bring a few smaller canvases for waiting during drying time etc.

FLOOR OR TABLE EASEL and FLOOR PROTECTION  eg a drop sheet that is not slippery

TABLE PROTECTION – plastic or towel

BRUSHES: A mix of sizes in flat and round synthetic brushes suitable for acrylics. Some large. An old credit card or similar.

PALETTE: for mixing – disposable palette pad and/or disposable plastic plates

ROLL OF MASKING TAPE ( blue painters masking tape best).

SMALL SKETCHBOOK

GRAPHITE PENCIL

SEVERAL WATER CONTAINERS – old pots, tins, a bucket for dirty water

RAGS, DISPOSABLE WIPES, ABSORBENT KITCHEN PAPER, TISSUES, DISPOSABLE FINE PLASTIC GLOVES

PAINTING APRON.

REFRESHMENTS: Morning and afternoon teas will be provided.

Bring your lunch (or purchase at nearby shops.) and bring your enthusiasm!
