John has had a gallery at HMAS Albatross Fleet Arm Museum named in his honour.

The JOHN DOWNTON ART GALLERY is one of two art spaces in the museum, the other the Admiral Robertson Auditorium.

Collections curator, Alison Chittick said in the South Coast Register that ‘ John is the best artist and a great supporter of the museum and the Fleet Air Arm Association. We like to refer to John as our official navy artist.’

What a wonderful, and well-deserved honour John. Congratulations from us all.

Tony has been accepted as a finalist in the 2015 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize.  This is the fifth year in a row that he has been accepted as a finalist.  It is quite a prestigious exhibition to be involved with and full details can be found on their website:

The paintings will be exhibited in the ‘Fountain Court’ at NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney from Wednesday 24th June until Friday 31st July 2015 and the opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.  Unfortunately, because it is Parliament House the exhibition is not open on weekends.  Entry to the exhibition is free and there will about 50 paintings to view.
